For a professional athlete, I am SUPREMELY LAZY. I don’t want to cook every day so I prep my meals for the week on the weekend. I love drinking water and carry a water bottle with me everywhere I go, but I haaaaaatttteeeee having to refill my bottle when it’s empty. Relevant Facebook post from this summer:
One thing that motivates me to be slightly less lazy though? PROGRESS.
When I was a runner, I used my Garmin to track my speed and distance and the more I improved, the harder I wanted to work. In bodybuilding, making side-by-side physique comparisons always wows me.
Unfortunately, no one ever hired a water bottle butler for me, but I did just get something that ignites my competitive, progress-hungry nature by incentivizing me for something as mundane as drinking water. I call it…the Thermos Connected Hydration Bottle with Smart Lid. Just playin’, I didn’t name it, Thermos did.
It’s a Bluetooth-enabled (aka magic) water bottle that suggests the amount of water I should have per day, tracks how much water I actually drink, reminds me via phone notifications when I’m slacking, and even tells me the temperature of the water in the bottle.
All you have to do is make sure it’s charged, download the free Thermos Smart Lid app (for iPhone, iPad, and iPod from the App Store), and connect to your bottle via Bluetooth.
When I took this screenshot, I’d only had 9% of the water I needed to drink that day. Seeing that obviously makes me feel like a failure, so I guzzled some more right away.
Bonus: if you have a Fitbit, you can connect this water bottle to your Fitbit account!
Aside from all the cool tech, it’s a cute and well-made bottle. It comes in blue or gray, has a leak-proof lid, and is made of BPA-free material. The lid’s battery will hold a charge for up to 12 days, so you don’t have to worry about charging it every night or anything.
I didn’t know I needed it, but I did. I love it. You need it. You’ll love it. Go buy one for you or someone you care about at Thermos.com!
