When the ReliOn Temple Touch Thermometer came in the mail for me to review, I was so excited about it that I charged directly over to my husband holding it out in my hand saying, “Let me try this out on you”, but my patient ran away.
Apparently I’m Nurse Ridiculous, and I shouldn’t chase after somebody while trying to stick something on their head.
The lowdown: You push the start button, wait for 2 beeps, hold it directly against the temple until you hear a series of beeps, and then read the temperature on the digital display. It’s as easy as pie, and takes all of 6 seconds.
If you want to take the temperature again, you need to wait for 2 minutes for the thermometer to reset itself, but it sure beats shaking the old oral thermometers of yesteryear.
We tested it many times on myself, my son, and my husband, the runaway patient. We compared the results to our trusty oral thermometer, and they came out nearly identical every time.
Cons: Reset time takes 2 minutes (might bother some people, but doesn’t bother me)
My suggestions: I think it would be great if it came with a protective case. I worry a little bit that the display might get scratched, or the area where the thermometer takes the reading might get damaged.
In a nutshell: The pros win out big time. Thumbs up for the Temple Touch!

**I’m pretty much done with myself today. I set the alarm for 5 am, and it took 9 hits on the snooze button, which translates to 4 1/2 hours, to finally get up.
**I went to the doctor yesterday to have blood drawn. We’re a bit suspicious that I have a sluggish thyroid, which would explain all this crazy sleepiness of mine. I’m tired of sleeping 12 hours, waking up and being ready for a nap an hour later.
**Yesterday I also went to the orthodontist for my consultation on braces. Do you know that they wouldn’t even quote me a price until they ran my credit? What kind of BS is that?
**Coke Rewards, you’d better give me back those points you took away, or I’m gonna have to stop drinking your sweet nectar. I’m not playing around; I’m flippin’ mad.
**Diet Dr. Pepper, I’m almost completely yours now.
**Need to let off some steam, ladies? It’s Friday which means it’s time to party at VGNO! So if you’re around this evening, stop over there and join in.
I remember once I went through the drive-thru at Wendy’s in college. I placed my order and had my hand out the window with a $20 bill, ready to pay. She handed me my food and the change out of the $20 bill.
Except I hadn’t given it to her yet.
Only not, because I immediately told her that I hadn’t given her the $20 yet and handed it to her.
I have a conscience and it’s a healthy one.
Any time I have ever been counted back the wrong change, I’ve always corrected them. I don’t have to think about it, it’s an automatic response.
I have entirely too much integrity.
BUT… if someone rings up a price lower than what I’m expecting…. I am all about that and mum is the word!
Have I ever told you that I’m a carb craving crazy woman? There is rarely a meal that goes by in which I don’t include some form of carbs. Actually, do I even eat any meals without carbs? I’m not so sure.
Last week I was able to try a couple of new products from the low carb Atkins Cuisine line, which means I can have my carbs while having less carbs!
But, how did they taste?
I tried the Atkins Cuisine Penne Pasta first. It contains half the normal amount of carbs and a whopping 11 grams of protein and 18 grams of fiber per serving.
I couldn’t tell the slightest bit of difference in taste between this pasta and the carb-heavy varieties I have always been eating and that’s a good thing.
I topped it with a chunky tomato marinara sauce and it was a delicious, hearty, and satisfying meal.
Next I tried the Atkins All Purpose Baking Mix. This contains 20 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber in every low-carb serving.
I used the mix to make waffles and there are some recipes on the pouch and many more at the website.
Unfortunately, I didn’t care for the taste of the waffles at all. It was too coarse-grained for me. However, my son ate two whole waffles and asked for more.
I think the mix would be far more suitable for bread, where I would be expecting that hearty grain type of consistency, so that will be the next thing I make with it.
If you’d like to try them for yourself, now is the perfect time to do so! You can create a recipe using either the pasta or all-purpose baking mix and submit it in the Atkins Cuisine recipe contest for the chance to win some great prizes! It ends September 30th, so be sure to get cooking before then.
I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Atkins and received samples to facilitate my candid review. In addition, Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.
I got to meet her cat family…
Penny Lane (ginormous!)
I’m home! I had a great time with my daughter and we laughed ourselves silly. Now I’m really tired! I’m gonna spend my evening trying to catch up as best I can with your blogs, and then I’ll get back to regular posting tomorrow or Tuesday.
Warning of the day: Steer clear of, run for cover from, and shun the movie, All About Steve.
There is no funny in this movie. There are multiple and repeated attempts at funny, none of which work. I tried to throw a teehee out there now and then, in an attempt to trick myself into seeing the humor, but all I could muster up was a sniff. I don’t think my daughter even managed a sniff. It’s just awful.
I tell you because I care.
So as you read this, I’m on the road…headin’ to O-H-I-O to see this gang: my daughter, her boyfriend, and their cat kids. She’s gonna keep me pretty busy but I’ll try to check in if I possibly can.
Otherwise, have a wonderful holiday weekend everyone and I’ll see you on the flip side. But, don’t write too much, so I don’t have too much trouble catching up! 😉
And enter the Old Navy giveaway. I made the rules super easy and it ends Sunday night!
