Why would you buy an electric toothbrush if a less expensive manual toothbrush does the job just as well?
Wait. Does it?
I’m in the process of figuring that out right now actually. I’ve been trying out the CariPRO ultrasonic electronic toothbrush for the last two weeks and I’m starting to wonder if I should leave manual toothbrushing behind.

Here’s why.
And full disclaimer, I received a complimentary CariPRO toothbrush for review but since I didn’t pay for it, I feel absolutely no pressure to like it or keep using it. (No skin in the game… as they say.)
What I Like about the CariPRO electric toothbrush
It prevents me from brushing so hard. I’ve developed a bad habit over the years of brushing too hard and my gums have receded to the point where the roots are exposed and yet, I still can’t seem to break the habit. It’s a huge problem for me.
It helps me focus on cleaning all of my teeth thoroughly. The toothbrush signals you when it’s time to start brushing a new section of teeth so you don’t rush through your brushing session. (The brush is designed to remove 7x more plaque than a manual toothbrush and improve gum health in as little as 2 weeks.)
It does a darn good job of cleaning and whitening. Anyone who drinks coffee, tea or cola knows that tooth staining is an inevitability, but after about a week of use, I could see a bit of brightening on my teeth and it continues to improve! And my teeth feel ultra-smooth (like they do after a dental cleaning). I love it!
It has five brush modes.
- Clean – optimal cleaning results
- White – high speed polishing
- Massage – gentle stimulation
- Gum Care – timed pulse for gum and gumline health
- Sensitive – ideal for sensitive teeth
I tried out each of the five modes a few times before deciding which one I liked best. I did like the clean and white settings because it felt like I was really going after the clean, but because of my gum recession and tooth sensitivity, I settled on sensitive mode.

It’s waterproof. You can brush in the shower if you want (not my jam), but I do like that it’s waterproof!
I need less toothpaste per brush session. I started out using the same amount of toothpaste I was using with a manual toothbrush, but I quickly learned it works beautifully with a much smaller amount!
The Cons of the CariPRO Electronic Toothbrush
It’s more expensive than a manual toothbrush. I’m not gonna lie… it’s an investment, but an investment in my oral health is one I’m absolutely willing to make.
I wish it had a snap-on cover and a travel pouch. Not a deal-breaker but it would be nice.
The button positions are a little off. The on/off switch is very close to where I seem to keep my thumb, and I’ve turned it off by accident twice so far. Also, not a deal-breaker… just a minor nuisance.
Overall Thoughts
It wasn’t until I started writing out my thoughts in this post that I made my decision on whether to keep using this electric toothbrush. As you can see, the pros far outweigh the cons, so, I’m going to stick with it.
The most important perk of an electronic toothbrush for me is that it helps me stop brushing so vigorously which is extremely important for my oral health. I can also tell that my teeth are being cleaned really well and my tea stains are starting to lift, resulting in a whiter smile.
