Get ready to laugh, because the new Love and Friendship movie based on Jane Austen’s comic gem is now in theaters. Starring the very talented Kate Beckinsale and Chloe Sevigny, the humorous and witty Love & Friendship is bound to be as much of a hit with audiences as it has been with the critics.
The film centers around Lady Susan (Kate Beckinsale), a beautiful young widow who has come to Churchill, the estate of her in-laws, to wait out colourful rumours about her dalliances circulating through polite society, but while there, she decides to secure a husband for herself and her daughter.
There is plenty of scheming and deviousness, as you can imagine!
Chloë Sevigny, plays Lady Susan’s friend and confidante Alicia Johnson, with Stephen Fry as her husband, the “very Respectable” Mr. Johnson, and things really get interesting with the arrival of the handsome, eligible Reginald DeCourcy (Xavier Samuel) and silly but cheerful — and very rich — Sir James Martin (Tom Bennett).
After a series of dramatic turns at Churchill, Lady Susan finally risks destruction when her jealous rival, Lady Lucy Manwaring (Jenn Murray), arrives in London to make a shocking revelation, leading to the denouement of denouements.
The reviews are in! See what the critics are saying about Love & Friendship here.
Sounds so good, doesn’t it? The best part is that all the drama is infused with humor! It’s like Downton Abbey with laughs! I can’t wait to go see it!
