I distinctly remember my son calling me from college as a freshman and telling me he was out of deodorant and what should he do?
First of all, I made this face:
And then I toddled over to the land of naiveté where he was residing and said, “Go to the store.”
However, a freshman living in the land of naiveté has no car, very little money, and absolutely no clue. Sooooo, mama talked him off the ledge.
Since then, I’ve learned a thing or two, and bless the little lamb, so has he.
I started buying his staple items in bulk at Sam’s Club. It makes so much more sense to send a whole semester’s worth of stuff at once. Plus it saves me money!
For instance…. his “keep the stink and filth away” supplies. Goodness knows, the scent of college boys in confined spaces is positively loathsome.
So this is the bundle of man stink prevention that will be making its way to my son next week.
Naturally, I’ll be throwing in some snacks and sweets as well. How could I not?
Sending care packages is one of the joys of being a parent of a college student. Saving money while doing so is another joy… because clearly the cost of tuition and textbooks isn’t going down. Ever.
