Serve up thick slices of this Cinnamon Swirl French Toast drizzled with maple syrup and apple pie filling for a french toast like you've never had before!
Heat oven to 350ºF. Grease 9x5-inch loaf pan. Stir together water, 1 egg and cake mix until moistened. (Batter will be slightly lumpy.) Spoon half of batter into loaf pan and spread evenly. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon topping over batter. Drop remaining batter in small spoonfuls over the topping layer and spread to pan edge. Sprinkle remaining topping evenly over batter.
Bake 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. For glass pan, add 5 minutes to bake time. Cool 5-10 minutes before cutting.
Blend 2 egg whites and milk in a shallow container; set aside. Slice loaf into eight equal pieces. Briefly dip each side of a piece of bread into the egg mixture, then place onto a pre-heated electric griddle or non-stick skillet on stove. When golden brown, flip over and brown the other side. Place on serving plate, and top with apple pie filling, maple syrup and powdered sugar as desired.
