Ingredients

frozen cut okra
thawed, patted dry

herb bread crumbs
divided

cup
butter

small onion
chopped

chili pepper
finely diced

cardamom

teaspoon

shredded Cheddar cheese

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In small bowl, melt butter and mix with bread crumbs; set aside.
Put okra in a greased 9" x 13" casserole dish and add beaten egg. Mix in onion, cardamom, salt, pepper, half the bread crumbs and half the cheese.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes. Sprinkle on the rest of the cheese and bread crumbs. Bake 10-15 more minutes.
