It took me three months to finally make it into Zoës Kitchen, the newest fast casual restaurant to open in my town. I was a little nervous to try it because I know very little about Mediterranean-inspired food, and that’s their specialty.
But they were kind enough to send me a gift card, and that was all the nudge I needed. With boyfriend in tow, I found myself in a friendly and inviting little café, with a wonderful menu of fresh and simple menu options.
Have I mentioned I’m a picky eater before? Because I am; I’m suuuuuper picky, annoyingly picky, downright frustratingly picky. So I ordered something very safe.
A classic turkey sandwich.
I know, I know… but wait for it.
I also ordered a side of braised white beans and rosemary. (Gasp; the girl’s gone loco!)
And yes, even though it was just a turkey sandwich, it wasn’t just a turkey sandwich. It tasted scrumptious and was obviously made from scratch with perfectly fresh ingredients. It made a flavorful, wholesome and delightfully appetizing meal.
Cut to my adventurous other half, (‘cept I’m not married, so can I say that? Too bad. I did.)
Anyhow, he went with the grilled steak kabobs. Grilling is mostly how they do things at Zoës, by the way. (There aren’t even any microwaves on the premises!)
I had to admit when his meal was ready, it looked ‘Zoe’ incredible. 😉 There’s something about food being grilled that makes it extra appetizing to the eye…and the belly.
Plus it was served with red bell peppers, onions, grilled potatoes and roasted vegetables. Want it!
And now I’m not scared of Mediterranean food anymore. Maybe next time I’ll get the Chicken Kabobs – a Zoës Favorite!
