I’d like to thank the Southern Christmas Show for providing tickets to this year’s event. All opinions are my own.
The annual Southern Christmas Show in Charlotte kicks off the holidays in November with 12 days of Christmas merriment under one giant roof. Whether you’re looking for holiday decor and design inspiration, uniquely handcrafted artisan gifts, food, wine or fun new products, you’ll find it all at the Southern Christmas Show and it comes served with a giant helping of holiday spirit!
Southern Christmas Show
All the Trimmings
The halls are decked with twinkling lights, glistening accessories and lavishly decorated trees, mantels, doors and room vignettes. You’re surrounded by holly jolly everything so you can’t help but catch the holiday spirit and (fair warning) loosen the grip on your wallet.
This year’s 50th anniversary celebration includes some retro designs (remember tinsel on Christmas trees?) along with modern inspiration you can use to help you create the perfect look in your own home. The holiday decorations are part of a designer contest, so if you find a few favorites, vote for them on the Southern Christmas Show website or Facebook page.
Visit the Enchanted Village of Miniatures
One of my favorite parts of the show is the room full of miniature scenes, and since it changes every year, it’s always a delight. How can you not smile at a speakeasy in a mini guitar case? The skill, creativity and patience it takes to put together these displays never ceases to amaze me.

Catch the Christmas Choo-Choo
Whether you’re a choo-choo enthusiast or not, there’s no denying the magic of a model train decked out in holiday lights. It’s sure to bring out your inner child as you watch it toot-toot its way along the track.
Shop For All the Things
The Southern Christmas Show’s biggest draw of all (and the reason some hardcore attendees drag rolling suitcases behind them) is the shopping. There are hundreds of shops carrying everything from wreaths and ornaments to handcrafted pottery, knick-knacks and crazy socks.
And if you’re worried about getting hungry while you’re shopping, don’t. There are oodles of wine and food samples available to try (and to purchase). There’s pretty much anything anyone could ever want… and then some.
If you need a break from shopping, relax and enjoy some of the festive singing, dancing and band performances at the holiday entertainment stage (see schedule here) or take the little ones for a visit and photo with Santa Claus. Photo proceeds benefit the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

This was my second visit to the Southern Christmas Show in Charlotte, and I loved it just as much as I did the first time. I think I’m going to make it an annual holiday tradition along with Speedway Christmas Lights!
