The Beaufort Inn – Downtown B&B Boutique Hotel

The Beaufort Inn located in the historic district of Beaufort, SC is the perfect marriage of a B&B and a boutique hotel. It has the character of a B&B, but with the privacy and amenities of a boutique hotel. Plus, it’s centrally located near quaint shops, restaurants and the waterfront, but it’s quiet and peaceful.

I stayed there for two nights while on a press trip, and it captivated me with its charm. One of my favorite moments during my trip was when I curled up on a chair on the big front porch, and just enjoyed the early morning serenity.

Beaufort Inn

I stayed in the Garden Cottage which is separated from the main inn by a small courtyard, and it was perfect. Admittedly, I’m not a huge B&B fan, but the cottage afforded me all the privacy I needed, and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The courtyard is a wonderful place to sit and chat, and it’s nicely lit in the evenings, which made me feel really secure when returning to my room each night.

I had a beautifully appointed luxury king bedroom with a lovely little writing desk, and the enormous bathroom had a soaking tub, pedestal sinks and a walk-in rainwater shower. I couldn’t have been happier with my accommodations.

And yes, there was free WiFi!

The only time it ever felt like a B&B to me was at breakfast, which was served buffet-style in the dining room with omelettes cooked to order (and the grits were incredible, by the way). However, as of this writing, The Beaufort Inn no longer serves breakfast, but provides vouchers for guests to eat at their choice of three nearby restaurants instead.

That’s even more like a boutique hotel, so I like the change!

If you like the communal nature of a traditional B&B, ask for a historic room in the main inn, but if you’re a privacy junkie like me, the cottages are the way to go. But, definitely book a stay at The Beaufort Inn. It’s wonderful!

Visit The Beaufort Inn website to make reservations, and visit www.beaufortsc.org for more info on the area.

I’m kind of a privacy junkie too, so it’s good to know the option to have the outside Cottage. The exterior of the building is gorgeous! I don’t blame you for curling up on that front porch. ?

It looks absolutely gorgeous at night time with the twinkle of the lights! I’m a huge fan of staying in bed and breakfasts or small inns like this over corporate hotels. I think it makes a world of difference in experience!
