Fresh Step with the Power of Febreze

My cat is a…creative litterbox user. I remember when I first brought her home, I went out and got one of those two-piece litterboxes with a lid that attaches to the bottom pan. I started to notice that pee was dribbling out of the seam between the top and bottom of the litterbox, and I couldn’t figure out why. Was the box too full of litter? Was she just peeing directly onto the floor out of spite?

One day, I decided to sneak up on her and watch her to see what in the world she was doing in there while she peed. Turns out, she’s a high pee-er. That’s right, a HIGH PEE-ER. She lifts her little rump up as high as she can and pees down the wall of the litterbox instead of just peeing directly into the litter like a normal cat. That’s why it was dribbling out of the seam!

Since then, I’ve used a high-sided container as a litterbox, and there have been no more pee-on-floor incidents, thank goodness. She has to jump a little to get in and out of the box, but she doesn’t seem to mind. Because of all the jumping, I really need to use the least dusty litter I can find, unless I want to be living in a nonstop litter dust cloud. I emptied Mony’s litterbox completely and gave it a nice deep clean outside with the garden hose before I tried the new Fresh Step. Now I won’t have to worry about whether to scoop before or after my shower for the day.

Usually Mony likes to jump in and use the box immediately after it’s been scooped, but today she was being stubborn. She must have known I wanted to take a pic. Typical cat.
