Eat Well Easily with HelloFresh

I try to optimize my life to be as convenient as possible. I complete all my errands in one outing, I bring my groceries in the house in one trip, and I prep all my meals ahead of time so when I’m hungry, all I have to do is pop one in the microwave.

Some people are amazed by my lifestyle and wonder how I manage to stay so on top of things. But the truth is…I. AM. LAZY. I don’t want to cook a million times a week. I don’t want to drive to multiple stores on multiple days. Ain’t nobody got time fo’ dat.

Although it is extremely nice to have all my meals cooked and ready on Sunday, I do sometimes miss having a warm, freshly cooked meal, so this opportunity to try out HelloFresh was really exciting. I’d get to have fresh meals! That are easy to make! Without having to measure out or even shop for the ingredients! (!!!!!)

One fine day, a refrigerated box of goodies from HelloFresh arrived at my door. Look at those three beautiful meal boxes lined up in my fridge! Each box contains everything you need to create a meal for two – except the meat, which was also included but refrigerated separately.

The box also contained a HelloFresh apron and a recipe booklet that even included wine pairings for each meal!

The first meal I chose to cook was the Seared Cod, since it was the week prior to my big competition and cod was one of the proteins that was A-OK to have on my diet.

The side dish for the cod was a salad that included green beans, white beans, tomato, onion, cilantro, and seasonings.

And here’s what the finished dish looked like! I couldn’t sample the salad, but my boyfriend benefitted from the deal and got to eat all of it. He said it was delicious! And the cod, which I did eat, was simple, savory, and very satisfying.

I saved the second dish I cooked for after my competition so I could fully indulge in all its pasta-y deliciousness. It was a Beef Bolognese with linguine, carrots, and poblano peppers. It even came with shredded cheese for garnishing!

Even though it included pasta, which I don’t usually eat, it was a totally balanced meal with protein, carbs, and fats, and it easily fit into my macros for that day. If you track macros or count calories, you don’t have to painstakingly input each ingredient into your app – each HelloFresh meal comes with nutrition information. And what’s more, all HelloFresh meals are approved by their in-house Registered Dietician.

Just like the seared cod, this dish came together in a snap, and I only had to use two pans – one for sautéing and one for boiling the pasta. Now that’s what I’m talkin’ about.

Eating Hello Fresh

Obviously I liked it 🙂

The third meal in the box is Parmesan-Crusted Chicken, and I’m bringing it with me on my beach vacation this weekend since it’s already in a super-portable box. Cooking it up will be a cute little date night activity for me and my boyfriend. 🙂
