How to Be Cute Even if You’re Lazy

I like looking cute, but I hardly ever feel like shopping. It’s annoying to browse through racks and racks of choices, lug everything to the fitting rooms, and try things on one by one. Online shopping is better, but there’s always something that doesn’t fit and needs to be returned in the mail. I’m exhausted just thinking about it.

Luckily for people like me, there are services out there now like Le Tote, which make being stylish much easier. I had the opportunity to try out three months of Le Tote for free, and I’m sharing what I thought!

When you join Le Tote, you take a survey about your style preferences and your clothing size so Le Tote can put together your “tote”. You’ll choose the colors, patterns, and silhouettes you like and dislike and select pieces from their collection that you would wear. All of this information together is used to create a tote for you that can include clothing and accessories.

Here’s what my first tote looked like:

It included two tanks, a jacket, a pair of earrings, and a necklace, and each piece was right up my alley. If you don’t like any of the pieces selected for you, you can easily swap them out for something else before the tote is mailed to you.

Once you’ve had a chance to wear everything, you can rate it on its fit and whether it suits your style. Then, if you fell in love with any of the items, keep them at a deep discount and send back the rest. You can exchange as many totes as you like within the month!

Le Tote Zoa tank

For a Saturday afternoon at my favorite coffee shop (working on my upcoming bodybuilding eBook!) I wore the Zoa sleeveless tank. It was light and breezy and fit great, and a neutral color is always my top pick! Verdict: liked it, but return.

Le Tote Free People tank

That same evening, for a night out at a local bar, I wore the Free People ribbed tank and the Noir Luxe chandelier earrings. I felt comfy and cute all night – even through a tipsy round of karaoke and several line dances. Ha! I wore this tank about 3 times throughout the month, so verdict: keeping it.

Le Tote Noir Luxe Earrings

The following weekend, I headed to Durham to see Brit Floyd, a Pink Floyd cover band. Beforehand, we stopped at Fullsteam brewery for a couple of craft beers. I was wearing the Noir Luxe chandelier earrings again, and they looked great with some other jewelry I already have in my collection. I love these earrings, but they are pretty similar to some others I own, so sadly, the verdict is to return them.

One piece I didn’t have a chance to wear was the Geo Print Jacket by Jack. It did fit great and if it were cooler outside, I definitely would have worn it! The verdict is to send it back and pay more attention to seasonality for my next tote.

Overall, I think Le Tote is a fantastic idea. It would especially be perfect for someone in a field of work that requires them to look fresh and stylish but doesn’t want to shop or repeat outfits often, or for a pregnant woman who doesn’t want to keep buying new clothes to fit a growing belly (Le Tote has a maternity section!).
