One of the hardest parts of a bodybuilding diet is not being able to drink delicious liquids like beer, wine, and juice. Not that I drink juice all the time, but since I can’t have it, obviously I WANT SOME. Luckily, there are some zero-calorie drink options out there, like diet soda, coffee, tea, and sparkling water. They won’t get you drunk (alas), but they might spice up your life a little bit.

SodaStream Source Review

I had the opportunity to try out the SodaStream Source (Metal) carbonated water system for free and obvi I was stoked about it. Inside the box, you get the CO2 canister; when empty, you can bring it back to the store and swap it for a full one at the price of CO2 only. You also get the machine’s power cable and a 1 liter BPA-free bottle.

You can, of course, just make plain carbonated water, but for a little fun, SodaStream has many flavor concentrate options to choose from. Not all of them are low calorie, by the way. Some are good, old fashioned sugar-sweetened drinks!

The system is very easy to use. Just fill the provided bottle to the line, place securely into the machine, and press one of the three buttons at the top to choose your preferred level of carbonation.

When you press a button once, the machine wakes up and the panel lights, then you press again to make your carbonation selection.

The flavor concentrate goes right into the newly-carbonated water bottle, then you replace the lid and gently tip back and forth to mix. Then just pour into a glass (a champagne glass is my personal suggestion) and enjoy!

I’m loving this system. I’d typically buy at least one case of flavored sparkling water with my weekly groceries, so it’s saving me some cash. It’s fun to be able to choose how carbonated I want my water to be, because sometimes you just don’t want to be burping all day, nawmean?

You can get your own SodaStream Source (from $99) right here!

Are you a sparkling water addict like me? Have you tried a SodaStream?
