One way my husband makes pea soup is with mashed potatoes. I don’t eat ham, so he buys something like butt (?), cooks it for the flavor and then takes it out. He’s a great soup maker. Why don’t you come to lunch?

Tauna says

I’m going to try this. I have beans I’ve been looking at but been a little scared of.
Just a little scary making green food……..on purpose.
But you’ve inspired me to try.
Louise says
Looks quite yummy, but I’m not a fan of cold soups isn’t it supposed to be served cold?
GSmooth says
Heavens NO!!!! If made properly it will congeal in the fridge and become the consistancy of cold mashed potatoes.. Only heating it up will thin it so a thick soupy soup. BTW, broth is not required. Use a big ham bone instead of diced ham, and let simmer 3-4 hours. Adding potatoes is overkill as well, because your gonna want to lap it up with some thick warm crusty bread!!
