This Wildgrain Box review has everything you need to know (not just the good stuff) before you spend money on your first Wildgrain bread subscription box.

The whole Wildgrain Box concept intrigued me when I first heard about it. I mean, a box of carbs just for me? Yes, please. But, is the monthly Wildgrain Box subscription actually worth it? Keep reading.

What is Wildgrain?

Wildgrain is a monthly bakery subscription box filled with fresh artisan bread, pastries and pasta delivered to your door. Everything arrives frozen, and each item is baked right from the freezer—no need to thaw anything out!

Even better, everything is baked and ready in 25 minutes or less!

What’s Inside a Wildgrain Box?

Now, there are FOUR ways to customize your Wildgrain box! (The price is the same and you can switch anytime).

  • Bread, pasta and pastries
  • Pastries and desserts
  • Bread and rolls
  • Vegan bread and rolls

The contents rotate each month (yay!) but as an example, the Wildgrain Mixed Box will generally include an assortment of three bread loaves, two types of pasta, and a package of artisanal pastries.

Plus, the current special means you’ll also get a 4-pack of croissants in every one of your subscription boxes. (Order your first box now!)

Here’s what I received in my first Mixed Box:

  • Sourdough Loaf
  • Sourdough Rosemary Garlic Loaf
  • Cranberry-Pecan Sourdough Loaf
  • Fresh Fettuccine Pasta (12 oz)
  • Fresh Tonnarelli Pasta (12 oz)
  • Pumpkin-Cinnamon Rolls (6-pk)
  • Croissants (4-pk)

My Personal Wildgrain Box Review/Experience (Arrival Condition)

I’ve had a year’s worth of Wildgrain boxes delivered at the time of this writing—spoiler alert: I’ve subscribed. All items are packaged and sealed individually (yay!), and everything comes inside a heavyweight cardboard box with dry ice, so the products should remain frozen while shipping.

The first box arrived in perfect condition—after this is when I subscribed—but the second box was a bit beaten up on its journey. Fortunately, everything was still frozen, and all was well. The third box arrived intact and frozen, but one package of pasta had broken open—probably due to a rough voyage. The next box arrived with everything in great shape. (I think they’ve been refining the packaging to see what works best.)

My Wildgrain Reviews (The Products)

This is where Wildgrain shines. Everything I’ve received has exceeded my expectations when baked. The appearance, taste, and overall food quality rival anything I’ve ordered fresh from a bakery.

The sourdough bread is absolutely killer. It’s perfectly crunchy on the outside, tasty, tender and fluffy on the inside. Wildgrain most definitely knows how to make the perfect sourdough bread.

And let me tell you about the croissants. Remember that beat-up shipping box? Well, one of my croissant packages (I ordered an extra) was a little smashed. (See the below photo.)

BUT the croissants baked up perfectly fluffy, flaky, and golden brown regardless. I was seriously impressed!

Look at all those flaky layers!

How Much Does a Wildgrain Box Cost?

Here’s the part that stings a bit. Wildgrain boxes are a bit on the pricey side. Each box costs $89—yikes. Now that’s about $12 per item—yikes again. So, yeah, it’s a splurge, but not much different than brick-and-mortar artisan bakeries.

One big perk: You can switch back and forth between the “Mixed Box” and the “Bakery Box”, skip or delay a shipment and cancel anytime. You’re not locked into a long-term subscription, and skipping a month is easy. I know because I’ve done it.

And shipping is free, everything bakes in 25 minutes or less, and the baked results are exceptional, in my opinion. The ingredients are also organic and clean, which I completely appreciate.

Plus, you can save $10 on your first Wildgrain subscription box order AND get free croissants for the life of your subscription when you shop through this link and use Wildgrain coupon code EMM10 at checkout.

I think it’s worth it, especially with the holidays coming. If you want to impress friends and family, this is certainly one way to do it. Wildgrain makes mealtime easy and fun – it’s too delicious to resist!
