Although I spend most evenings with my boyfriend, I have to admit that many of them involve running errands, working, cleaning, doing paperwork or getting lost in the rabbit hole of the internet. With stay at home orders in effect, we took the opportunity to slow down, relax at home and enjoy a cozy night in.
To help inspire you to do the same, here are some tips on how to create your own cozy night at home.
How to Create a Cozy Night In
Block off the evening on your schedule.
Finish up all the straggling chores, tasks and emails before the evening rolls around. Turn off phone notifications (and better yet, put phones away for the evening). Relax and enjoy your night without distractions.
Make a cozy meal.
Feel-good comfort meals are just what cozy nights in require, and a hot, hearty soup with a loaf of warm, crusty bread and a fresh salad is a perfect choice.
Cozy up the room.
Now that dinner’s ready, bring out the softest, furriest, snuggliest blankets and pillows, light a few candles or start a fire in the fireplace and immerse yourself in all the cozy things.
Pick a favorite cozy night activity.
Watch a movie or binge-watch a TV show. Pick something you’ve both been wanting to see, and settle in for an evening of entertainment. (Tiger King, anyone?)
Have a wine tasting or create some cocktails. Try some new wine varieties or work together to mix up a specialty cocktail or two.
Make it a game night. Bring out a board game, deck of cards or online party game pack for guaranteed fun.
Look through old photos. Relive favorite moments, holidays and vacations together.
Work on a puzzle. Bring out a jigsaw puzzle or crossword puzzle and work on solving it together.
There’s nothing better than a cozy night in. I hope you enjoy one soon!

We have movie nights. Lately The Bachelor is a thing at our house. I never wanted to watch it. My boys actually asked to watch it, so we have. Kind of an odd show for a 9 and 12 year old to want to watch. They really don’t show too much, so whatever. Ha!

I love having a date night at home! We put the kids to bed and ignore the housework and just be together. Some of my favorite dates were at home.

My husband and I ended up doing this exact thing last weekend. We were supposed to go out on a date but the kids got sick. So we put them to bed early and had a cozy date night inside. It was wonderful! I would also love to give these a try. They look really tasty!

That’s what I call the perfect night. I’m not a fan of going out. I have to get all dressed up and wear shoes that hurt my feet. No thank you!
