If you love James Patterson books, clear off your nightstand, because his newest novel is ready for you to devour! It’s called Humans, Bow Down, and as soon as I read the first sentence, “BE WARNED,” I knew I was going to be up all night reading.
It’s about robots. And humans. And survival.
And it’s one heck of a thrill ride.
Synopsis of Humans, Bow Down
In a world run by machines, humans are an endangered species.
The Great War is over. The Robots have won. The humans who survived have two choices—they can submit and serve the vicious rulers they created or be banished to the Reserve, a desolate, unforgiving landscape where it’s a crime to be human. And the robots aren’t content—following the orders of their soulless leader, they’re planning to conquer humanity’s last refuge. With nothing left to lose, Six, a feisty, determined young woman whose family was killed with the first shots of the war, is a rebel with a cause. On the run for her life after an attempted massacre, Six is determined to save humanity before the robots finish what the Great War started and wipe humans off the face of the earth, once and for all.
An interesting addition to Humans, Bow Down, which was co-written with Emily Raymond, is that there are illustrations throughout. Interesting, right? The illustrations have an ominous feel to them, and add an intriguing element to the reader’s experience. (To be honest, I prefer to imagine the story in my mind, but I’m not mad about it.)
As with all of the James Patterson books I’ve read thus far, this one had killer writing and a lightning-fast pace. Plus, the chapters are super short, so I couldn’t resist reading just a little more. And a little more.
But now I’m scared of robots.
