I’m completely fascinated with all things Irish, so I love Irish sayings, blessings and proverbs. If I had them framed and hanging all over my house, I’d be a happy girl indeed.

And if I could speak with an Irish brogue, my life would be complete.

In the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, I put together some of those Irish sayings, blessings and proverbs so you can recite a few of them to your loved ones and friends to catch them off guard and spread a little holiday cheer.

Irish sayings blessings proverbs

I also created a St. Patrick’s Day Match Up game with free printable.  See if you can figure out the meaning of the Irish sayings, blessings and proverbs. Some of them are tricky!

Irish Proverbs Match Up St. Patrick's Day Game

Answer Key: 1.o, 2.d, 3.f, 4.h, 5.l, 6.c, 7.m, 8.g, 9.a, 10.j, 11.i, 12.n, 13.k, 14.e, 15.b

And to inspire your St. Patrick’s Day menu, here are a few of my favorite Irish-inspired recipes.

I don’t usually do too much to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, but I’ve made the kids green-themed meals in the past and one year I had them convinced that I could magically make their milk turn green when I poured it into their cups due to a drop or two of food coloring at the bottom. For right now though, that St. Patrick’s Day Pineapple Lime Upside Down Cake is looking pretty darn temping!!
