Perhaps because they’re decorated to look like little Christmas presents.

Step 2: Add Rice Krispies cereal and decorative sprinkles. Stir until everything is mixed well.
Step 3: Using buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into 13 x 9-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cool. Cut into 2-inch squares.
Step 4: In large bowl, gently mix marshmallow crème and soft cream cheese together. Spread on top of a treat and then place another treat on top of that. Wrap with a piece of string licorice to make a bow.
How to serve and store holiday Rice Krispies treats
Because there is cream cheese in these, you’ll want to serve them right away. Leftovers can be refrigerated of course, but the licorice will get brittle and come untied. The treats themselves will still be scrumptious!
