What child (or adult) wouldn’t love one of these adorable snowy polar bear cookies?

I dare you not to pick one up and take a bite. What would you crunch first: nose, eyes, ears or would you just chomp into it willy nilly?

Me? It’s nose first, all the way.

Polar Bear Cookies

The inspo for these polar bear cookies came from hanging out on the Food Lion Fresh Ideas blog where I saw a post about kid-friendly holiday desserts.

There were such cute ideas for Santa hats, Christmas tree brownies, peppermint candy OREOs and more. Check it out!

So, I was inspired to make a kid-friendly holiday dessert of my own — polar bear cookies!

What You Need to Make Polar Bear Cookies

You’ll find everything affordably priced at Food Lion, and if you keep watching the Weekly deals for sales on all your holiday baking and cooking supplies, you’ll save even more!

  • 1 package double-stuff OREO cookies
  • 1 package white candy melts
  • candy eyeballs
  • M&M’s for noses
  • Mini marshmallows for ears (or you can use M&M’s)
ingredients for polar bear cookies

Set aside 12 candy melt discs. Follow the directions on the candy melts package to melt the discs. I have a candy melter but the microwave works just as well.

Dunk each OREO cookie into the melted candy, completely covering it. Use two forks to lift it out, tap off the excess and transfer to a waxed paper-covered baking sheet.

Candy melts can be persnickety sometimes, so it’s ok if you need to use a spoon to fill in gaps or smooth the top. Mine always look like they came from a home cook’s kitchen, and since they did, I’m good with it.

Press one of the extra candy melts onto the face as a muzzle and add an M&M nose, candy eyes and marshmallow or M&M ears.

I made some Christmas-y with red and green noses and some wintry with blue noses. Just have fun!

Who cares about perfection? Besides, you can tidy them up a bit after the candy coating hardens.

Once the candy firmed up, I took a sharp knife and gently trimmed off the extra candy squiggles as best I could.

And then they were ready!

Aren’t they cute?

Thanks, Food Lion for helping me make more merry as I continue my favorite holiday traditions and make new memories with my family.
