These bright green no bake cornflake wreath cookies with red hots add such a fun and festive touch to a holiday cookie platter. They’re soft and chewy and super easy to make with just five ingredients!

If you have extra cornflakes left in the box, make this old-fashioned cornflake candy too!

How to make cornflake wreaths

Pour the cornflakes in a large bowl; set aside.

In a medium saucepan, melt butter over low heat then add marshmallows. Continue to stir regularly until melted.

Add green gel food coloring. I recommend starting with a little and adding more until you reach your desired color). Stir until color is thoroughly distributed.

Pour the marshmallow mixture over the cornflakes and stir until cornflakes are thoroughly coated.

It’s ok to add more cornflakes if you think you need more. It depends how gooey or firm you’d like your Christmas wreath cookies.

Shaping the cornflake Christmas wreaths

You’ll need to butter your fingers or spray them with cooking spray or the mixture will stick to your hands.

Drop a cluster of the marshmallow mix onto a sheet of parchment paper or a greased baking dish then immediately use the handle of a spoon or your fingers to make a hole in the center and shape the mixture into a circular wreath shape.

You do need to work fairly quickly, but it doesn’t have to be perfect, so don’t stress about a perfect circle. Cornflakes and branches never form perfect circles, right?

When you have your cornflake wreath cookie formed, add some red hot cinnamon candies onto the wreath for the perfect festive finish. You need to add the candy quickly so the marshmallows will still be sticky enough to hold them.

On some of them, I scattered the “red berries” around the wreath and on others, I clustered them in a group of three. It’s totally up to you!

Questions about no bake Christmas wreath cookies

What kind of food coloring should I use?

I prefer gel food coloring rather than traditional food coloring because it’s more concentrated and not as liquidy so it tends to create more vibrant hues and doesn’t add runniness to recipes.

Can you add any flavor extracts to the cornflake wreaths?

Absolutely! You could add a teaspoon of almond extract or vanilla extract after adding in the green food coloring.

Do cornflake wreaths taste like cornflakes?

With the buttery marshmallow mixture, they actually taste more like Rice Krispies Treats. (Try my gift-wrapped Christmas Rice Krispies Treats recipe too.)

How long will cornflake wreath cookies last?

If you store them in an airtight container, they should stay fresh for about 5 days.

Do I have to use cinnamon candies?

Of course not! You can use any kind of small red, edible decor to make the berries. Red mini M&Ms would work beautifully. Remember that to attach them, you’ll need to work quickly so the marshmallows will still be sticky enough to hang on to them

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup butter (1 stick)
  • 1 10 oz pkg mini marshmallows (about 5 ½ cups
  • green food gel
  • 5 cups cornflakes
  • red cinnamon candies

Instructions
 

  • Pour cornflakes in a large bowl.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows; stir often until melted. Add food coloring gel bit by bit until you reach the desired color intensity. Pour over cornflakes in bowl. Stir until cornflakes are well coated.
  • Using buttered fingers or spoons, drop cornflake mixture onto parchment paper-lined cookie sheets. Use wooden spoon handle or fingers to create a hole in the middle and shape into a wreath. Immediately add cinnamon candies for decoration.
