Broccoli and Cheese Casserole in dish

Broccoli cheese casserole is a great side dish for just about any meal. It’s ultra cheesy, creamy and has a delectable buttery crumb topping.

Most recently, I made it for Easter dinner to go along with our ham and it was a huge hit! It’s the best broccoli casserole recipe I’ve made so far.

Ingredients needed for broccoli cheese bake

  • Cream of mushroom soup
  • Milk – I prefer whole milk as it helps create a creamier sauce.
  • Yellow mustard
  • Garlic powder – If you only have garlic salt, you can use it, but omit the regular salt if you do.
  • Black pepper
  • Salt
  • Lemon peel – I use this exact dried lemon peel.
  • Broccoli florets or broccoli cuts – I prefer florets but either will work, and you’ll need to let it thaw beforehand.
  • Shredded sharp Cheddar cheese – You could also use regular Cheddar, a Cheddar blend, Swiss or even Mozzarella.
  • Plain bread crumbs
  • Butter
