Christmas Chocolate Stuffed Cookies are soft and buttery cookies with sweet chocolate candy centers. Topped with colorful candied cherries, they’re especially festive and will surely add holiday cheer to your Christmas cookie platters this year.

Why This Recipe Works

The buttery goodness of these cookies would be delicious without a darn thing inside, but the bonus burst of chocolate makes them even yummier. And you can get creative with the cookie stuffing. We’re using chocolate stars, but chocolate kisses in any flavor, Andes mints, Rolos, and chocolate chips would all work too. Or put the candied cherries in the middle!

Ingredient Notes

labeled ingredients for christmas chocolate stuffed cookies
  • Chocolate stars – I can usually find them in grocery stores during the holiday season but they’re also available on Amazon year-round. If you can’t find them, chocolate kisses work well too.
  • Candied cherries – You can use red, green, or both. It’s up to you!
  • Butter – No substitutes- just butter for this recipe, and I always use unsalted butter.

Directions

Step 1: With an electric mixer, cream butter, and sugar. Add egg, milk, and vanilla; mix well.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to wet mixture, beating just until combined. Don’t overmix. Chill for 20-30 minutes.

Step 2: Use a 2-teaspoon cookie scoop to scoop up some dough and drop it into your hand. Press a chocolate star into the middle and wrap the cookie dough around it. Roll it into a smooth ball, top with half of the candied cherry, and place on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
